The Germanisches National Museum (GNM) is a museum in Nuremberg, Germany. It houses a large collection of objects relating to German culture and art. The GNM is Germany’s largest cultural history museum.
The “Luxury in Silk” exhibition centralizes on a magnificent one-piece silk gown from the 1760s. This lovely piece is made of richly patterned silk with a hoop skirt reinforced with whalebone. The exhibition emphasizes the cultural relevance and complexities of women’s fashion in the 18th century.
